High school football: Parkway to compete in Battle on the Border again

The Parkway Panthers are one of 14 teams from five states scheduled to compete in 2015 Landers Dodge Battle on the Border Sept. 10, 11 and 12 at Independence Stadium.

The Panthers will face Gladewater, Texas, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Last year, Parkway routed Marshall, Texas, 45-21 in the Battle on the Border. The Panthers finished the season 8-2 but did not compete in the playoffs because of LHSAA sanctions.

The fifth annual showcase continues to feature regional and national power house high school
football programs from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The showcase
will also feature its first seven-game, three-day format, providing a full slate of weekend games for area and regional high school football fans.

“The City of Shreveport is proud to partner with Landers Dodge again to bring regional and area
fans one of the finest football showcases in the country. This will be a weekend football fans will
not forget,” said Patrick Wesley, Assistant Director of SPAR.
