Thursday’s game

Benton vs. Northwood 

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m, Jerry Burton Memorial Stadium 

LAST YEAR: Did not play 

BENTON NOTES: Tigers coming off 2-5 season with five losses by a combined 18 points … Benton fell to Parkway 24-14 in last week’s jamboree … Sophomore RB Greg Manning showed a lot of potential last week … Junior Gray Walters returns at QB … Senior DL Davis Sellers one of area’s top returning players.

NORTHWOOD NOTES: Falcons were undefeated on the field in the regular season last year but were forced to forfeit first two games … Northwood defeated Southwood 18-0 and Green Oaks 28-6 in jamboree … 6-foot-3 junior Mason Welch returns at QB; he passed for 160 yards and two TDs last week … Mar’jayvious Moss scored TDs on a punt return and run in jamboree.

Friday’s games 

Ouachita Parish vs. Airline 

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., M.D. Ray Field at Airline Stadium 

LAST YEAR: Did not play

OUACHITA PARISH NOTES: Lions coming off 1-4 regular season but all four were to strong playoff teams … Ouachita Parish routed Bastrop 35-0 in jamboree … Todd Garvin begins first season as head coach … Marcell Henderson returns at RB.

AIRLINE NOTES: Vikings coming off 3-4 season … Airline defeated Haughton 26-7 in jamboree … RBs Michael Johnson and Tre Jackson both looked good in jamboree … Sophomore QB Ladarius Epps ran the offenses well and threw a TD pass to Daxton Chavez.

Red River vs. Haughton 

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Harold E. Harlan Stadium 

LAST YEAR: Did not play 

RED RIVER NOTES: Bulldogs went 6-3 last season and reached second round of the Class 2A playoffs … Jeff Harper, a former Parkway assistant, was named interim head coach following resignation of John Bachman … Red River defeated Loyola 25-14 in jamboree … QB Zin’Tayvious Smith, a three-year starter, has committed to Navy, per Shreveport Times

HAUGHTON NOTES: Bucs coming off 8-2 season … Haughton lost to Airline 26-7 in jamboree … Bucs lost two fumbles inside the Airline 10 last week … Junior QB Colin Rains was sharp last week … Junior RB Dexter Smith turned in an impressive performance behind solid OL.

Parkway vs. Minden

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Minden, “The Pit”

LAST YEAR: Did not play 

PARKWAY NOTES: Panthers went 3-5 last season under first-year head coach Coy Brotherton … Parkway defeated Benton 24-14 in jamboree … Senior RB/R Ron Richmond and junior RB Jaylan White both turned in impressive performances last week … Senior Cannon Link returns at QB.

MINDEN NOTES: Crimson Tide went 7-3 last season and reached the quarterfinals of the Class 4A playoffs … Minden defeated Homer 7-6 and Haynesville 6-0 in Pineland Jamboree … Spencer Heard, a former Parkway assistant, enters his ninth season as head coach … Junior RB Daylen Robinson ran the ball well last week … Senior Andrew Cooper, also a starting safety, takes over at QB.

Arcadia vs. Bossier

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Memorial Stadium 

LAST YEAR: Did not play 

ARCADIA NOTES: Hornets coming off 2-6 season including first-round loss in Class 1A playoffs … Dimitri Carr begins his eighth season as head coach … Junior DL Dimitri Carr Jr. was a first-team All-District selection last season.

BOSSIER NOTES: Bearkats coming off 1-4 season … De’Aumante Johnson making his debut as head coach … Johnson has installed the spread offense … Bearkats defeated Plain Dealing 26-0 in jamboree … Senior WR Joseph Manning scored three TDs, two receiving and one rushing, last week.

Plain Dealing vs. Booker T. Washington 

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m, Leonard C. Barnes Stadium

LAST YEAR: Did not play 

PLAIN DEALING NOTES: Lions went 3-5 last season in Christopher Wilson’s first season as head coach … Plain Dealing lost to Bossier 26-0 in jamboree … RB Ardavious Washington-Carper ran the ball well last week … Senior Braeden Sterling, also a starting linebacker, returns at QB after an early-season injury kept him from playing the position most of last season. 

BOOKER T. WASHINGTON NOTES: Lions, a Class 4A team, coming off a 2-5 season … BTW lost to North Caddo 14-6 in jamboree … Senior QB Roy Morris is a versatile athlete who has played a variety of positions, including WR and RB.
