High school football: Williams, Brown, Larry lead Parkway past Southwood

The Parkway Panthers pulled away in the second half for a 41-21 victory over the Southwood Cowboys in a District 1-5A game Friday night at Bobby Marlow Field at Preston Crownover Stadium.

Parkway finished the regular season 5-5 overall and 3-3 in district. The Panthers will be on the road in the first round of the playoffs next week. Pairings will be announced Sunday afternoon.

Southwood finished 0-10 and 0-6. The Cowboys have lost 18 in a row.

The first half ended tied at 21. But Parkway took control with two TDs in the third quarter and then sealed it with another in the fourth,

The game included kickoff returns for touchdowns by both teams. Parkway’s Derious Bradford returned one 95 yards after Southwood took a 21-14 lead in the second quarter.

The Panthers rolled up 432 yards rushing.

Eric “EJ” Williams gained 257 yards on 29 carries, his third game of more than 200 yards.

Kendall Brown rushed for 154 yards on 14 carries and scored three TDs.

Amani Larry threw a 17-yard TD pass to Chase Turner and ran 12 yards for a score.

Bradford had three solo tackles and 10 assists, per Parkway stats. David Morales had five solos and five assists. David Bennett had three solos and five assists.

Jacoby Taylor had an interception.
