High school girls basketball: Airline picks up two wins in Trak1 Benton Lady Tigers Tournament


It’s been a tough start to the season for Airline, but the final day of the Trak1 Benton Lady Tigers Tournament Saturday was a good one for the Lady Vikings.

Airline edged Benton 46-43 and downed West Ouachita 41-27. Airline improved to 5-7 and ended a six-game losing streak.

Zahria Lloyd hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds to left the Lady Vikings past Benton.

Makayla Bendaw led Airline with 13 points. Keiarra McCoy added 12 and KeKe Marshall 10.

Emily Ward led Benton with 16 points. Qua Chambers chipped in with 11.

Lloyd hit two 3-pointers and scored 10 points against West Ouachita.

In other early games, three-time defending Class 2A state champion North Caddo defeated Evangel Christian 51-41, Southwood downed West Ouachita 39-21 and Red River topped Parkway 52-31.

Niaya Fant led Parkway with 15 points.
