High school girls basketball: Benton’s Ward named second-team 4A All-State

Benton sophomore Emily Ward has been named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State girls basketball second team.

Ward averaged 20.2 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Lady Tigers, who went 18-15 and reached the second round of the playoffs.

Ward has already been named to the coaches’ composite (all-classes) All-State team. She was also the MVP on The Press-Tribune’s All-Bossier Parish team as well as the All-District 1-4A team.

Bossier junior Destiny Thomas was named honorable mention on the LSWA team.

A first-team All-Parish selection, Thomas averaged 18.8 points and 14.7 rebounds.
