High school girls basketball: Haughton raises record to 10-0; Douglas scores 30 in Plain Dealing victory

The Haughton Lady Bucs and Plain Dealing Lady Lions were winners Monday night.

Haughton routed Pleasant Hill 57-26 at Haughton to improve to 10-0, Plain Dealing defeated North Webster 55-44 at Plain Dealing to improve to 6-3.

The Lady Bucs and Lady Lions face off Tuesday at Plain Dealing.

At Haughton, Shaniya Perkins scored 27 points. She had nine points in the second quarter and 10 in the third.

Sklyar Branch added 16. Bella Hammond had 12 on four 3-pointers.

At Plain Dealing, Jakayla Douglas scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Lady Lions. 

Brianna Newton added 14, including two 3-pointers.

Douglas scored nine in the first quarter and Plain Dealing led 18-6.

North Webster rallied in the second quarter but the Lady Lions still led 27-23 at the half. They extended the lead to 40-33. Douglas scored 11 of her team’s 13 points in the fourth.

Nazaria Caldwell led North Webster (5-3) with 28.
