High school girls basketball: Parkway, Haughton, Airline, Benton win Friday games

The Parkway Lady Panthers, Haughton Lady Bucs, Airline Lady Vikings and Benton Lady Tigers were all victorious Friday.

Parkway, the two-time defending non-select Division I state champion, advanced to the Sunday Players Showdown in the Lake Basketball Classic semifinals with a 53-42 victory over 2023-24 select Division I runner-up Baton Rouge Woodlawn.

The Lady Panthers (9-0) face two-time non-select Division II champion Wossman Saturday morning at 9. Parkway defeated Wossman 53-49 in The Battle on the Hardwood Classic on Nov. 20,

Haughton and Airline also stayed unbeaten.

The Lady Bucs (8-0) defeated Cedar Creek 61-49 in the Quitman tournament. The Lady Vikings (6-0) topped Carroll 55-31 at Airline.

Benton downed Sam Houston 58-36 in the South Beauregard tournament in Longville. The Lady Tigers improved to 6-2 with their fourth straight victory.

Dakota Howard scored 10 of her 22 points in the first quarter to help Parkway take a 15-12 lead in the battle of Lady Panthers.

Neither team did much offensively in the second quarter and the Lady Panthers from Bossier City led 18-17 at the half.

Zara Baker scored seven and Howard six in the third quarter and Parkway led 35-31 going into the fourth.

Khia Thomas scored five of her nine points in the fourth. Baker, who finished with 15 points, hit a big 3-pointer and scored five. Howard had four points.

Howard was 10-of-11 from the free throw line in the game and Parkway was 17-of-20.

Amijah Price led Woodlawn with 17 points.

Skylar Branch scored 14 of her 22 points in the first quarter as Haughton built a 22-10 lead against Cedar Creek. She hit two 3-pointers in the quarter.

The Lady Bucs led 35-21 at the half and 46-31 after three quarters.

Shaniya Perkins scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half. Bella Hammond scored 11 in the game.

Catherine McAdams and Taylor Martinez led Cedar Creek (5-2) with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

At Airline, Addison McDowell continued her strong start to the season with 21 points.

Nia Williams added 15. Ke’zyriah Sykes scored nine. 

Carroll dropped to 2-6. Airline visits Minden Tuesday.

Lainey Lafitte poured in 18 points to lead Benton past Sam Houston.

Kryshna Bostic added 11 and Sugar Sanchez eight. Sam Houston dropped to 3-5.
