High school girls basketball: Parkway, Haughton, Airline remain undefeated

The Parkway Lady Panthers, Haughton Lady Bucs and Airline Lady Vikings all remained undefeated with tournament victories Tuesday.

Parkway routed Rosepine 70-16, and Haughton edged Denham Springs 44-43 in overtime in the City of Lights Tournament in Natchitoches.

Airline slipped past Peabody 33-31 in the Peabody tournament in Alexandria.

The Lady Bucs improved to 6-0. The Lady Panthers and Lady Vikings are 5-0.

Dakota Howard and Zara Baker led Parkway with 21 and 20 points, respectively. Savannah Wilson scored 15.

Baker scored 10 and Wilson nine in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers rolled to a 21-2 lead. Howard had 13 in the second.

Shaniya Perkins and Bella Hammond led Haughton with 20 and 16 points, respectively. 

Perkins scored 12 in the first half, helping the Lady Bucs take a 20-11 lead.

Denham Springs got within seven after three quarters. Hammond hit two 3-pointers in the fourth. The game went into overtime tied at 36.

Leigh Williamson scored all four of her points in overtime. Skylar Branch sank two free throws and Perkins had a two-point basket.

The Lady Bucs withstood nine 3-pointers from the Lady Jackets (3-3). Kelijah Henry hit four and led Denham Springs with 12 points.

Addison McDowell led Airline with 15 points and Ke’zyriah Sykes added 12. The Lady Vikings handed Peabody (4-1) its first loss.
