High school girls basketball: Parkway moves to No. 1 in 5A power ratings with victory over No. 4 Lafayette

The Parkway Lady Panthers picked up another key power ratings victory in the West Monroe tournament Tuesday, defeating Lafayette 44-38.

According to GeauxPreps.com, the victory moved the Lady Panthers (14-1) to No. 1 in the Class 5A ratings. Lafayette (12-3) is No. 4.

Parkway defeated No. 3 Ponchatoula 60-35 in the tournament Monday.

Mikaylah Williams led the Lady Panthers against Lafayette with 18 points. Ty’lissa Henderson added 11 and Savannah Wilson seven.

The game was tied at 19 at the half. Parkway led 34-30 after three quarters.

Henderson and Williams scored five each in the fourth and the Lady Panthers held off the Lady Lions.

In a non-tournament game, Haughton fell to Cedar Creek 34-29 at home. The Lady Bucs dropped to 9-6. Cedar Creek improved to 13-0.
