The Parkway Lady Panthers moved into sole possession of first place in District 1-5A Wednesday.
Parkway defeated Evangel Christian 63-4 at Evangel. Haughton, which was tied for first, fell to Captain Shreve 63-56 at Shreve.
In the other 1-5A games, Airline defeated Benton 38-27 at Airline and Huntington downed Byrd 67-37 at Byrd.
Going into the final day of the regular season Friday, Parkway (19-7, 6-1) leads Haughton (23-8, 6-2), Airline (13-11, 5-2), Captain Shreve (18-10, 5-2) and Huntington (16-7, 6-2).
Parkway visits Captain Shreve, Haughton hosts Huntington and Airline is at Natchitoches Central.
Parkway can do no worse than tie for first. The possibility exists of a four-way tie for first.
Regardless, Parkway, Haughton, Airline, Natchitoches Central and likely Benton will represent the district in the non-select Division I playoffs which begin next week.
Going into the game, Benton (16-16) was No. 26 in the power rankings. The top 28 teams in the final rankings make the playoffs. The Lady Tigers should add a win when they visit Evangel (0-16) in their regular-season finale.
Shreve and Huntington will be in the select Division I playoffs.
At Captain Shreve, Skylar Branch sank four 3-pointers and poured in 30 points to lead Haughton.
Branch scored 16 in the first half, including 11 in the second quarter, and Haughton led 28-22. Shreve rallied in the third, hitting three from behind the arc. The Lady Gators led 44-42 going into the fourth.
Shreve stayed hot from 3-point range in the fourth, knocking down three more. The Lady Gators finished with eight.
Aliyah Delaney added nine points for Haughton and Trinity Smith-Compton had eight.
Shiloh Brokenberry and Loghan Ware led Shreve with 20 and 18 points, respectively.
At Airline, Ke’Zyriah Sykes and Karliyah Woodard led the Lady Vikings with six points each. Nia Williams added seven and Addison McDowell six.
Kryshna Bostic led Benton with 10. Lainey Lafitte and Bella Wiese scored six each.
