The Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats won pool play games on the opening day of the Airline Winter Classic boys soccer tournament Thursday at Freedom Fields.
Airline defeated Northwood 3-1, and Bossier edged Parkway 1-0.
Gin Pau scored two goals in Airline’s victory, including a shot from about 50 yards away. Khai Tung also scored, and Keaton Love had an assist.
Bossier’s Rene’ Alvarado scored the lone goal against Parkway on a penalty kick about five minutes into the second half.
In other games, Byrd defeated Benton 3-0, Neville edged Caddo Magnet 2-1 and Captain Shreve defeated Natchitoches Central 2-0.
The 16-team tournament continues Friday starting at 5 p.m. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. with the championship game set for 7:15.
In a girls game at Tinsley Park, Benton edged Airline 1-0. Georgia Carroway scored on an assist from Breanna Bundy.
In the 10-team JV division of the Airline tournament, Parkway defeated Bossier 4-1, Caddo Magnet defeated West Monroe 2-0, Captain Shreve Yellow defeated Airline 4-0 and Byrd defeated Benton 3-0.
Gerardo Lara scored Bossier’s goal against Parkway.
