High school soccer: Airline opens district play with sweep of Southwood; Benton, Parkway girls win

The Airline boys and girls teams opened District 1-I play with a sweep of Southwood on Monday night at Cargill Park.

The Vikings and Lady Vikings both won 8-0.

In a non-district girls games, Benton defeated Neville 3-2 in Monroe and Parkway downed North Caddo 8-0 at Tinsley Park.

At Cargill, Jackson Tinkis scored three goals in the Airline boys’ victory. Adam Biehler and Tung Khai scored two each, and Aldo Villarreal had one.

Ashton Morris had three assists. Nathan Grace, Nick Jump and Keaton Love all had one.

Airline improved to 5-4.

Jamie Sparkman, Cynthia Williams and Abbie Neuman scored two goals apiece in the Airline girls’ win. Caitlin Cover scored had one goal and one assist.

Emily Francis, Lindsey Donlan, Alyssa Emory, Addie Mosura and Katelyn Watts also had assists.

Airline improved to 6-1.

Hailey McGhee scored two goals and Georgia Carroway one in the Benton girls’ victory. Sarah Varnado and Lexy Ybarra had one assist each.

Benton improved to 6-2-2.

The Parkway girls improved to 3-0 with the victory over North Caddo.
