High school soccer: Benton girls’ historic season ends with quarterfinal loss to top seed

The Benton Lady Tigers’ season came to an end Friday with an 8-0 loss to No. 1 seed and two-time defending state champion St. Thomas More in a Division II quarterfinal match in Lafayette.

Benton, which made school history by reaching the quarterfinals for the first time, finished 14-11-3 in Nick Thompson’s first season as head coach.

The Lady Tigers were the District 1 runners-up behind Caddo Magnet. 

St. Thomas More improved to 18-4-5.
