The Bossier Bearkats advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division III boys soccer playoffs with a 1-0 victory over New Orleans Military & Maritime on Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
Marquis Harris scored the gameās only goal about 24 minutes into the first half. The Bossier defense and goalkeeper Coleman Beeson made the lead stand up.
Bossier (21-2-1), the No. 8 seed, will travel to Houma on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. matchup against No. 1 Vanderbilt Catholic. The Terriers (20-3-8) defeated No. 16 Sterlington 4-0 in the second round.
Bossier will be making its first quarterfinal appearance since 2009.
The Bearkatsā only two losses this season were to District 1 foe Loyola College Prep. The No. 5 seed Flyers (22-4-5) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory over No. 17 St. Louis.
New Orleans Military & Maritime, the No. 9 seed, closed its season 16-6-2.
The No. 8 seed Benton Lady Tigers (14-10-3) face No. 1 St. Thomas More (17-4-5) at 5 oāclock Friday in a Division II girls quarterfinal match in Lafayette.
Benton is in the girls quarterfinals for the first time in school history.
