High school soccer: (Updated) Bossier boys, Benton girls cruise into second round of playoffs

The Bossier Bearkats and Benton Lady Tigers advanced to the second round of the playoffs with victories Friday.

In Division III boys, No. 3 seeded Bossier defeated No. 30 Buckeye 8-0 at Memorial Stadium. Bossier (16-6-2) will host No. 14 Parkview Baptist (12-6-2) in the second round next week. The Eagles defeated No. 19 Minden 2-0 Friday.

In Division I girls, No. 3 Benton rolled past No. 30 Woodlawn-Baton Rouge 6-0 at Airline Stadium. The Lady Tigers (19-3-3) will host No. 14 West Monroe (17-6-3) in the second round. The Lady Rebels defeated No. 19 Ponchatoula 2-0 in the first round.

Benton defeated West Monroe 2-0 in the season opener Nov. 12.

In Division I boys, No. 20 Benton’s season came to an end with a 5-0 loss to No. 13 Lafayette at Lafayette. The Tigers finished 11-12-1.

At Bossier, Aidan Bamburg and Wilson Alvarado scored two goals each. Bryan Tuyizere, Luciano Monge, Josue Enamorado and Luca Sifuentes also scored goals.

Fernando Acuna had two assists. Alvarado, Sifuentes, Enamorado and Luis David Ramirez had one apiece.

At Airline Stadium, Emerie Tanner led Benton with three goals. Violet Kosik, Eryn Flowers and Baleigh Ware scored one apiece.

Tanner and Payton Beloso had one assist each.

Two parish teams play first-round matches Saturday.

In Division II boys, No. 27 Parkway (5-11-2) visits No. 6 Pineville (15-1-2) at 11 a.m. In Division III girls, No. 27 Bossier (6-14-1) faces No. 6 Vandebilt Catholic (10-6-1) at 2:30 p.m. in Houma.
