High school soccer: Bossier boys, girls win season openers

The Bossier boys and girls teams won high school soccer season openers Monday night at Tinsley Park.

The Bearkats edged Benton 2-1. The Lady Kats topped Northwood 6-2.

In another girls season opener, Haughton fell to Minden 4-1.

Bossier’s Rene Alvarado scored two second-half goals on penalty kicks to lift the Bossier boys to the victory. Benton faces Minden Tuesday night at 6 at Tinsley Park.

Ademaris Holquin scored five goals in the Lady ‘Kats’ win. Zaire Johnson added one.

Cecilia Cruz stopped five shots and didn’t allow a goal. Nya Dotson also had four saves. Northwood scored two goals late in the match.

Pau Lian and Andora Sifuentes played outstanding defense, coach Allen Wood said.

Bossier faces Southwood Tuesday night at 7:45 at Tinsley.

Parker McClung scored Haughton’s lone goal against Minden. The Lady Bucs play their first District 1-II game Tuesday night at 6 at Tinsley.

In a boys season opener Tuesday night at Tinsley, Airline plays Parkway at 6 p.m.

In a girls season opener, Benton faces Minden at 6.
