High school soccer: Three parish teams roll to district victories; Bossier, Shreve boys play to 1-1 tie

Three parish teams cruised to lopsided district victories Thursday night.

In District 1-II boys matches at Cargill, Benton defeated Northwood 8-0 and Parkway downed Huntington by the same score.

In a District 1-II girls match at Cargill, Benton dropped Northwood 8-0.

In non-district boys matches, Bossier and Captain Shreve played to a 1-1 tie at Bossier and Haughton blanked North Caddo 8-0 at Tinsley.

In a non-district girls match, Haughton downed Bossier 8-0 at Bossier.

Benton’s Logan Smith scored three goals for the third straight match. He also had one assist.

Devin Ryan had two goals and one assist. Buzz Bording, Chase Cutler and Garrett Petro scored one goal apiece.

Ethan Bihler, Jimmy Ward and Ben Poole all had one assist.

Benton, No. 3 in the Division II power rankings according to GeauxPreps.com, improved to 8-4-3 overall with its sixth straight victory. The Tigers are 2-0 in district. Northwood dropped to 2-6 and 0-2.

Yoany Reyes scored Bossier’s goal against Shreve (16-2-3), which is No. 3 in the Division I power rankings according to GeauxPreps.com. Felix Deras had the assist.

Coleman Beeson had eight saves. Bossier, No. 6 in Division III according to GeauxPreps.com, is 12-3-4.

Carter Ebarb and Carter Jensen scored two goals each in the Haughton boys’ victory. Ebarb also had two assists.

Ian Ebarb had two assists and one goal. 

Hilder Quintanilla, Josthin Quiacain and Reese Seals scored one goal apiece. Johnny Van and Hudson Culver were cited for their play on defense.

Haughton improved to 6-6-2.

The Parkway boys, No. 5 in the Division II power rankings, raised their overall record to 7-6-2. The Panthers are 2-0 in district.

The Benton girls, No. 7 in the Division II power rankings, improved to 11-5-1 overall and 3-0 in district. Northwood dropped to 3-11-1 and 0-2.

The Haughton girls, No. 8 in the power rankings, improved to 9-7-2. 

Bossier fell to Wossman 5-2 in a non-district match Wednesday. Julianna Gomez and Dulce Reyes scored goals for the Lady Kats.
