High school softball: Airline opens defense of 1-5A title with win over Haughton

The Airline Lady Vikings opened defense of their District 1-5A championship with a 15-1 victory over the Haughton Lady Bucs on Thursday at Airline.

Raelin Chaffin pitched a five-inning one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Paris Endris went 4-for-4 with three RBI. Jina Baffuto had two doubles and three RBI.

Lexi Gray went 2-for-3 with a double. Kenzee Perry had two hits.

Allison Watson had three RBI. Caroline Easom and Hanna Heng walked twice.

Haughton’s Madison Trujillo hit a first-inning home run.

Airline improved to 5-2. Haughton fell to 4-3.

In a Tuesday game, Parkway came close to winning its first game but North Webster prevailed 21-20 at Parkway.

Mikaylah Williams went 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI.

Caitlyn Havis went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Mackenzie Eason had three hits, including a home run and double, and five RBI.

Caellen Burr had three hits, including a double. Jada Payne had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Bella Edmonson had two hits and two RBI. Courtney Fisher had two RBI.
