High school softball: Airline wins share of District 1-5A title; Benton, Parkway win

The Airline Lady Vikings won a share of the District 1-5A championship with a 22-0 rout of Southwood on Thursday at Southwood.

Airline (17-6, 6-1), which has won eight straight, and Natchitoches Central (17-7, 6-1) finished tied for first for the second year in a row. The Lady Vikings have won outright or shared the district championship five straight years.

In non-district games Tuesday, Benton downed Minden 16-4 at Benton, Parkway dropped Logansport 13-3 at Parkway and Haughton fell to Cedar Creek 8-1 at Haughton.

At Southwood, eight Lady Vikings had hits. 

Jina Baffuto went 5-for-5 with two RBI. Paris Endris went 3-for-4 with a grand slam home run, double and seven RBI.

Aleena Duran went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Natalie Sutton went 3-for-4 with two RBI. 

Alex Knowles had two hits and three RBI. Emily Rachal had two hits and two RBI.

Aubrey Jeane and Elena Heng also had hits. Rachal got the win.

Airline is scheduled to visit Alexandria at 2 p.m. Saturday.

At Benton, Marissa Schoth went 2-for-4 with a triple and double. Sophia Livers went 2-for-4 with a double.

Emersyn Disotell also went 2-for-4. Ava Defee got the win.

Benton (15-6), which has won six in a row, is scheduled to visit Many at 6 p.m. Monday.

At Parkway, Chloe Larry went 4-for-5 with a triple and three RBI.

Mikaylah Williams went 2-for-2 with a home run and double.

Winning pitcher Hayleah Thornton went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Madison Pye had two doubles and three RBI.

Kayleigh Driggers hit a two-run home run. Emma Ryan had a hit.

Parkway (8-10) is scheduled to visit Buckeye at 5:30 Monday.

At Haughton, Brooklynn Bockhaus went 2-for-3 with a double. Ella Vickers had a double.

The Lady Bucs (13-11) are scheduled to visit North Webster at 5 Monday.
