The Benton Lady Tigers, Airline Lady Vikings and Haughton Lady Bucs won District 1-5A games Thursday.
Benton defeated Natchitoches Central 12-7 in 10 innings in Natchitoches, Airline held off Parkway 19-16 at Parkway and Haughton routed Byrd 20-4 at Haughton.
Benton and Airline are the only teams still undefeated in district play.
At Natchitoches Central, Benton scored two runs in the top of the fifth to tie it at 7.Â
The Lady Tigers stranded a runner at third in the top of the eighth and left two on in the ninth. They finally broke through in the 10th.
Emersyn Disotell smacked a home run after Olivia Livers walked. Moniz hit a three-run with two outs.
Moniz also had a triple and double. She went 3-for-6 with five RBI. Ashley Promes and Disotell had two RBI each. Livers drew four walks. Lainey Lafitte and Maggie Landman had one double each.
Moniz pitched 8 1/3 innings. She struck out 12 and walked four.
Benton improved to 14-2 and 4-0. Natchitoches Central dropped to 5-12 and 2-2.
At Parkway, Airline led 13-7 through five innings. The Lady Vikings extended the lead to 19-7 six runs in the top of the sixth. But the Lady Panthers weren’t done. They scored nine in the bottom of the inning to get within three.
Taylor Smith entered the game to pitch for Airline. After giving up a one-out double, she induced a popup and groundout to end the game.
Airline’s Haley Whiteside went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Lindsey Marcinkus had two doubles and two RBI.
Ainsley Jones went 2-for-4. Tanesciya Thomas had two hits, including a double. Ryan Hutchinson had two hits.
Emily Rachal hit a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the sixth. She also drew three walks. Aleena Duran had two RBI. Kemora Guidry had a double.
Parkway’s Dakota Howard went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBI.
Addison McCall went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI.
Madison Menard had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Katie Giovengo had two hits. Macee Thompson and Shelby Vaughn had two RBI each. Zoey Horn had a double.
Airline improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in district. Parkway dropped to 6-7 and 0-2.
At Haughton, nine Lady Bucs combined for 16 hits in the four-inning game.
Reese Mayfield went 3-for-4. She ended the game with a three-run home run in the fourth and finished with seven RBI.
Carsyn Kizzia went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run. She also drew two walks. Brianna Benecke went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Brooklyn Ezernack went 2-for-3.
Winning pitcher Charlee Prothro went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI. Kylie Small went 2-for-4. Clara Shaffer had two RBI.
Haughton (9-9, 3-1) faces Iowa Friday at 7 in the Sulphur tournament. Byrd dropped to 5-8 and 1-2.
