The Benton Lady Tigers and Haughton Lady Bucs won District 1-5A games Tuesday.
Benton defeated Parkway 10-0 at Benton, and Haughton topped Evangel Christian 9-2 at Evangel.
Elsewhere, Airline downed Stanley 3-1 in a non-district game at Airline.
At Parkway, Benton broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the bottom of the third. The Lady Tigers scored two in the fourth then ended the game with one in the sixth.
Benton’s Emersyn Disotell went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBI. Olivia Livers went 3-for-4. Bayleigh Moniz went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI.
Maggie Landman had a two-run double with two outs to give the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead in the third. Moniz followed with her two-run homer. Defee, Livers and Disotell had consecutive singles in the inning. Lainey Lafitte’s two-out single made it 3-0.
Moniz allowed four hits, struck out six and walked one.
Parkway’s Katie Giovengo and Mikayla West both had triples.
Both teams continue district play Thursday. Benton (13-2, 3-0) is at Natchitoches Central, and Parkway (6-6, 0-2) is at Airline.
At Evangel, Clara Shaffer went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Brianna Benecke went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI.
Charlee Prothro went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Reese Mayfield went 2-for-4 with a double.
Prothro went five innings for the win. Dixie Williams pitched the final two innings.
Haughton (8-9, 2-1) continues district play Thursday at home against Byrd.
At Airline, Taylor Smith pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks. Ryan Hutchinson and Ainsley Jones both went 2-for-3.
Trailing 1-0, the Lady Vikings scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jones, Kemora Guidry, Madalynn Shortridge and Hutchinson had consecutive singles. Shortridge scored on a groundout by Lindsey Marcinkus.
Airline improved to 9-3. Stanley, which had a six-game winning streak snapped, dropped to 12-3. The Panthers were the runners-up in non-select Division V last season.
