The Benton Lady Tigers won two games in the Calvary softball tournament on Saturday, defeating Ashdown, Ark., 4-1 and St. Mary’s 10-6.
Benton improved to 10-11.
Sarah Koeppen pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts against Ashdown. She also went 2-for-2 with a home run and walked twice.
Madi Simms went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Makenzie Chaffin also had two hits. Anna Claire Kratzer hit a solo home run.
Taylor Jones and Brittany Ulmer had one single each.
Olivia Oliphint went 2-for-2 with a home run and double against St. Mary’s. She also walked twice.
Simms had another good game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Koeppen again reached base four times. She went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and walked twice.
Kratzer smacked two doubles. Chaffin hit a three-run homer in the second inning to give the Lady Tigers a 5-1 lead. Jones had a triple.
Koeppen went the distance for her second win of the day.
Benton hosts two-time defending Class 4A state champion North DeSoto in a District 1-4A game on Tuesday.
