High school softball: Benton shuts out Logansport in Southwood tournament

The Benton Lady Tigers defeated Logansport 12-0 Saturday in the Southwood tournament.

Benton improved to 19-8. According to GeauxPreps.com, the Lady Tigers are No. 15 in the Class 5A power ratings. The top 16 in the final ratings host first-round playoff games.

Benton is scheduled to host Calvary Baptist Tuesday and conclude the regular season Wednesday at North Webster.

Ava Defee pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Sophia Livers, Meaux Carroll, Piper Stephens and Megan Risher had two hits apiece in the six-inning game.

Carroll had a double and triple. Livers had a triple. Stephens had a double.

Christina Gegg had a double and three RBI. 

Parkway defeated Converse 10-5 in the Southwood tournament Friday. Chloe Larry hit two home runs. Avery Schoenborn and Mikaylah William hit one each.

According to GeauxPreps.com, Parkway (9-11) is No. 29 in the 5A power ratings. The top 32 in the final power ratings make the playoffs.

Parkway is scheduled to visit Converse Monday, host Stanley Tuesday and finish the regular season Wednesday at Buckeye.

Airline fell to Notre Dame 9-5 Saturday in the Buckeye tournament. The Lady Vikings (17-11) were No. 17 in the 5A power ratings.

Airline is scheduled to visit Ouachita Christian Monday.
