The Benton Lady Tigers took sole possession of the District 1-5A lead with a 6-1 victory over the Airline Lady Vikings Thursday at Airline.
In another 1-5A game, Parkway fell to Captain Shreve 9-7 at Parkway. Haughton downed Simsboro 15-0 in a non-district game.
At Airline, Benton’s Dylan Defee had a home run, triple and two RBI. Lainey Lafitte went 3-for-4.
Maggie Landman went 2-for-3 with a two-out double in the top of the sixth that gave Benton a 4-1 lead. Emersyn Disotell hit a two-run home run to give the Lady Tigers the 6-1 lead in the top of the seventh,
Benton starter Bayleigh Moniz went five innings. She allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one. Karlea Tasby gave up one hit in the final two innings.
Airline’s Kemora Guidry went 2-for-3. Ryan Hutchinson went 2-for-4. Taylor Smith struck out eight.
Benton (17-3, 5-0) hosts Zwolle Monday at 5. Airline dropped to 13-6 and 3-1.
At Haughton, Kylie Small, Charlee Prothro, Saylor White and Dixie Williams all had two hits. Prothro had a double and three RBI. White and Brianna Benecke had two RBI each.
Presley Yerby had a double and two RBI.
Williams didn’t allow a hit and walked just one in three innings.
Haughton is playing in the Quitman tournament Friday and Saturday.
At Parkway, a late rally by the Lady Panthers came up short. Captain Shreve led 9-3 through 5 1/2 innings. Parkway scored two in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.
Seven Lady Panthers combined for 11 hits. Dakota Howard, Katie Giovengo, Madison Menard and Macee Thompson all had two.
Giovengo had a double and two RBI. Addison McCall also had a double.
Parkway (7-8, 1-4) is playing in the West Feliciana tournament Saturday.
