High school softball: Haughton, Airline post tournament victories

Haughton and Airline picked up victories in tournaments Friday.

The Lady Bucs defeated North Webster 19-4 in three innings in the Northwood tournament. The Lady Vikings split games in the Pearland, Texas, tournament, defeating New Caney, Texas, 7-0 and losing to Pearland 9-1.

Benton dropped two games in the North DeSoto tournament, falling to the host Lady Griffins 17-14 and Forest 8-3.

Parkway lost to Tioga in the Northwood tournament.

Haughton’s Sierra Lingo and Averi Phillips both went 3-for-3 with doubles against North Webster.

Reagan Jorstad, Madison Trujillo and McKayla Burkart all had two hits, including doubles. Burkart had five RBI.

Katelyn Hall also had a double. Holly Tony got the win.

The Lady Bucs improved to 2-1.

Jessica Grubbs went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Airline’s win over New Caney. Kenzee Perry went 2-for-3 with a double. Allison Watson and Paris Endris also had doubles.

Jina Baffuto had a triple. Raelin Chaffin pitched a two-hitter.

Airline got just one hit in the four-inning game against Pearland, a single by Baffuto.

The Lady Vikings are 2-2.

Madison Wells, Sophia Livers and Tayler Gonzalez all had three hits in Benton’s loss to North DeSoto

Livers smacked one home run and one triple. Gonzalez had a home run and double.

Olivia Oliphint had two hits. Anna Claire Kratzer hit a home run and had two RBI. Megan Risher had a double.

Oliphint belted a three-run homer against Forest. Kate Boltinghouse went 2-for-3.

Benton is 1-3.

Mackenzie Eason had a double in Parkway’s loss. The Lady Panthers are 0-3.
