The Haughton Lady Bucs rallied past the Parkway Lady Panthers 9-8 in a key District 1-5A game Wednesday at Haughton.

Parkway broke a 5-5 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth. But Haughton scored two with two outs in the bottom of the inning and won it on Ella Vickers’ walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh.

Haughton improved to 12-8 overall and 4-0 in district. The Lady Bucs visit Natchitoches Central Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in another key district contest.

Parkway (6-7, 2-3) was scheduled to host Benton (9-6, 1-2) at 5:30 Thursday. But the game has been moved to April 6 because of poor field conditions.

Airline (10-6) travels to Monroe for a non-district game against Neville (11-5) Thursday.

Laney Dobrow started Haughton’s two-out rally in the sixth with a walk. After courtesy runner Kinsley Brotherton stole second, Sara White brought her home with a double.

Macey Schut followed with a double that cut Parkway’s lead to one.

Dixie Williams, who pitched the final three innings for the Lady Bucs, then sat the Lady Panthers down in order, inducing two groundouts and a flyout.

Kylie Small led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Brooklynn Bockhaus and Ariana Matthews then had back-to-back-doubles, tying the score. Then Vickers ended it.

The loss was Parkway’s second close one to one of the district’s top teams. The Lady Panthers also lost to Airline 4-3 in eight innings.

Sophomore Chloe Larry continued her outstanding season, going 4-for-4 with a home run, triple and five RBI. She also had two stolen bases and scored two runs.

Mikaylah Williams went 2-for-4. Avery Schoenborn hit a home run and had two RBI.

Dobrow led Haughton, going 3-for-3 with two RBI. Small had two hits.
