High school softball: Haughton’s two seniors hit home runs in Senior Night victory

The Haughton Lady Bucs defeated Claiborne Christian 10-4 Thursday night at Haughton.

The Lady Bucs improved to 15-12. According to GeauxPreps.com, Haughton is No. 20 in the Class 5A power ratings with road games at Florien Monday and Ruston Wednesday left in the regular season.

The top 32 teams in the final ratings make the playoffs with the top 16 hosting first-round games.

Thursday night’s game was Senior Night, and the Lady Bucs honored their only two seniors, Brooklynn Bockhaus and Averi Phillips.

Bockhaus, who will continue her playing career at South Alabama, went 2-for-2 with a home run, double and three RBI. Phillips hit a solo home run.

Kylie Small went 3-for-3 with a triple. Ella Vickers went 2-for-3 with a home run and triple.

Laney Dobrow had a double.

Macey Schut went 6 2/3 innings for the win. 

Elsewhere, the Benton Lady Tigers fell to North DeSoto 13-7 at North DeSoto. The Lady Griffens are No. 1 in the Class 4A power ratings.

Piper Stephens went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI. Meaux Carroll and Kennedy LaPierre both hit two-run home runs.

Sophia Livers and Tayler Gonzalez had one double each.

According to GeauxPreps.com, Benton was No. 15 in the Class 5A power ratings before Thursday’s game.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play in the Southwood tournament Friday and Saturday before closing the regular season with games against Calvary Baptist Tuesday at home and North Webster Wednesday on the road.
