High school softball: Parish teams fare well in tournaments

Bossier Parish softball teams fared well in tournament play Saturday.

A day after going winless, the Parkway Lady Panthers, Benton Lady Tigers, Haughton Lady Bucs and Airline Lady Vikings combined for five victories.

Parkway defeated Stanley 11-10 and Lakeside 12-0 at the Ruston Softball Park. Benton downed West Monroe 7-1 and lost to Sterlington 8-7 at the Jackson Parish Recreation Complex in Jonesboro.

Haughton routed Bastrop 15-0 and lost to Mangham 11-1 at the Jackson Parish Recreation Complex. Airline defeated Plainview 16-2 and lost to DeRidder 6-2 at the Johnny Downs Complex in Alexandria.

At Ruston, Parkway rallied for the win over Stanley. The Lady Panthers scored four runs in the top of the fifth to tie it at 9 and then scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Abbie Norcross went 3-for-5. Maecy Ingram had two hits, including a double, and four RBI. Allie Hunt went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Faith Ingles, Shelby Newman and Skylar Bernard had two hits apiece.

Hunt pitched a seven-inning one-hitter and went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI against Lakeside.

Norcross went 5-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Ingram went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Madelyn Elliott had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Shelby Newman also had two hits. Ingles had a double.

Parkway (8-2) visits Benton (5-5) in a non-district game Tuesday. (NOTE: Game has been cancelled because of rain).

At Jonesboro, Sarah Koeppen pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts in Benton’s win against West Monroe. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Hallie Saintignan went 3-for-4. Abby Kent had two hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Kent had a triple, double and three RBI against Sterlington. Saintignan went 2-for-4 with a triple. Makenzie Chaffin had two hits, including a double. Anna Claire Kratzer went 2-for-3.

The Lady Tigers outhit the Lady Panthers 10-7.

Pitcher Shelby Hensley went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI in Haughton’s three-inning win against Bastrop.

Leah Hopson went 3-for-3 with a double. Reanna Crumpler had two hits, including a double. McKayla Burkart had three RBI, and Sidney Arnold had two.

Haughton (4-7) hosts Evangel Christian in a District 1-5A game Tuesday.

At Alexandria, Maddie Ennis went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI against DeRidder. Caroline Easom had a double.

Ennis went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and four RBI in the win over Plainview. Easom went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and three RBI.

Jessica Grubbs struck out eight in five innings. She also had two hits, including a double.

Tori Ligman had two hits and three RBI. Lexi Gray went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kourtnee White had two hits.

Airline (7-3) hosts Captain Shreve in a District 1-5A game Tuesday.
