High school softball week in review

The Parkway Lady Panthers and Haughton Lady Bucs picked up five District 1-5A wins between them last week.
The Lady Panthers (13-9, 6-1) host Byrd in a big 1-5A game at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Bucs (11-5, 5-0) host Airline Tuesday and Southwood Thursday.
Here is how parish teams fared last week.

Parkway: The Lady Panthers defeated Captain Shreve 6-2, Caddo Magnet 8-5 and Southwood 16-5 in District 1-5A play.
They won two of three in the Dana Bailey Coya Memorial Tournament, which the Lady Panthers hosted. Parkway defeated Evangel 6-5 and Hornbeck 15-0 and fell to North DeSoto 4-0.
Alexis Rayborn went 3-for-4 against Magnet. Lindsey Hutcheson had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Rebecca Lynch also had two hits. Allie Hunt scattered six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Samantha Guile didn’t allow a hit and struck out three in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
Lynch went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI against Southwood. Kendall Lewis went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Mary Kate Bozeman had two hits, including a double, and three RBI. Rayborn drove in two runs. Brittany Bryant tripled.
The Lady Panthers broke a 5-5 tie against Evangel with a run in the top of the seventh.
Rayborn led off with a walk and advanced to second on Lewis’ sacrifice. Kaytlyn Guerrero’s single moved Rayborn to third. She then scored on a double steal with Guerrero. Guile set the Lady Eagles down in order in the bottom of the seventh.
Lewis had a double and two RBI.
Hunt pitched a three-inning one-hitter against an overmatched Hornbeck team.
Hannah Kennady went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Abbie Norcross hit a two-run homer. Gallman and Rayborn had two hits and two RBI each.
Hutcheson and Bryant had two hits each. Lewis and Gallman both tripled.
Guile struck out 11 and allowed just four hits against North DeSoto. The Lady Griffins’ EC Delafield, a Class 4A All-State selection last season, pitched a two-hitter.
Lynch and Rayborn had the Lady Panthers’ hits.

Haughton: The Lady Bucs swept Caddo Magnet 9-1 and 10-0. They went 1-2 in the Zachary tournament against some tough competition, defeating St. Thomas More 9-2 and falling to Walker 13-3 and Mount Carmel 10-1.
Ashley Smith pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the 9-1 win over Magnet. Keeleigh Bennett had a triple and two doubles. Lauren Edwards doubled twice. Lacey Dodson, Savannah O’Neal and Leah Hopson had two hits apiece.
Anna Dies pitched a five-inning two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the five-inning 10-0 victory. She also went 4-for-4 with a double.
O’Neal had a triple, double and three RBI. Dodson had two hits and two RBI. Hopson and Smith had two hits each. O’Neal and Bennett had two hits each against St. Thomas More. Dodson drove in two runs. Smith scattered six hits and struck out 10.
O’Neal had two RBI against Walker. Dies went 2-for-3 with a triple against Mount Carmel, No. 2 in last week’s LHSAA 5A power rankings.

Benton: The Lady Tigers fell to Delafield and North DeSoto 12-0 in a District 1-4A game. They won two of four in the Calvary tournament, defeating Ashdown, Ark., 15-6, and St. Mary’s 5-3 and falling to Foreman, Ark., 6-2 and Castor 8-5.
Benton also lost to Airline 10-6 in a non-district game.
Hallie Saintignan and Abi Cole had the Lady Tigers’ only two hits against Delafield.
Samantha Maranto went 3-for-4 with two RBI against Ashdown. Saintignan also went 3-for-4.
Mackenzie Stewart had two hits, including a double. Sarah Koeppen had a home run, single and three RBI. Chelsea Rangel had three RBI. Yancey Cox doubled.
Koeppen allowed just two hits and no earned runs in five innings in the win over St. Mary’s. Stewart pitched two innings of no-hit ball in relief.
Cole had two hits and two RBI. Koeppen tripled.
Rangel homered against Airline. Koeppen went 2-for-3. Cole had a double and three RBI. Maranto had two hits against Foreman. Stewart pitched four solid innings, allowing four hits.
Cole went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI against Castor. Koeppen hit a solo home run.

Airline: The Lady Vikings (4-13, 1-5) lost a 9-6 heartbreaker to Byrd in 10 innings in District 1-5A.
They also defeated Benton 10-6 and lost tournament games to Menard and Alexandria Senior High in Alexandria.
Airline scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game against Byrd into extra innings tied at 6. After two scoreless innings, the Lady Jackets scored three in the top of the 10th.
Sophomore Hannah Hutson turned in an outstanding performance, pitching all 10 innings.
Kaitlyn Walker had three hits, including a double. Kelci Johnson homered and singled. Hannah Brooks had two hits, including a double. Kaylee Adams and Brittany Nelson had two hits each. Olivia Broussard doubled.
Mary Macaulay hit two home runs against Benton. Adams and Johnson also homered.
Macaulay went 3-for-4. Johnson had two hits and three RBI. Adams had two hits and two RBI.
Hutson scattered six hits and struck out eight.
The Lady Vikings host Caddo Magnet Thursday at 6.
