High school track and field: Airline a close second in boys and girls divisions in Mansfield meet

Airline was a close second in the boys and girls divisions in the Mansfield Wolverine Relays Thursday.

Airline scored 94 points in the boys division, just three behind North DeSoto. 

Airline scored 91 points in the girls division, just 2.5 behind North DeSoto. 

Airline and Benton athletes fared well in individual events.

Airline’s Zion Smith and Lathan Woodland and Benton’s Sam Ivins won events in the boys division. 

Airline’s Jaycie Wallace and Shelby Ledet won events in the girls division.

Smith took the 110-meter hurdles in 14.02 seconds. Mansfield’s Jaden Youngblood was second in 14.35.

Woodland won the 400 in 48.71. North Webster’s Xaeliin Gladney was second in 52.64. 

Woodland also finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet. North DeSoto’s Javonte Taylor won with a 6-6.

Ivins took the 3,200 in 10:59.22. Leesville’s Emmanuel Hill was second in 12:09.00.

Wallace won the 100 in 12.11. North DeSoto’s Taylor Clark finished second in 12.37.

Wallace also finished second in the 200 in 25.69. Mansfield’s LaJordan Boykins won in 25.32.

Ledet won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches. Huntington’s Anaiyah Narvaja was second with a 5-0.

Airline won the 4X200 and 4X400 relays in the boys division and the 4X100 in the girls.

Airline’s Jayden Williams finished a close second to Leesville’s Keeton Johnson in the boys 800. Williams ran a fast 1:55.86. Johnson ran a 1:55.35.

Airline’s Joseph Thrash was second in the boys shot put with a 39-10. Northwood’s Kristion Johnson won with a 46-7. Thrash also finished third in the discus, 

Airline’s Jayda Chrisley took second in the girls 400 in 1:08.81. Huntington’s Livvy West won in 1:01.26.

Benton’s Aaliyah Gonzalez was second in the girls 800 in 2:37.40. Byrd’s Mallory Swint won in 2:29.94.

Benton’s Maddox Cisneros captured second in the girls 3,200 in 13:27.18. North DeSoto’s Katelyn Allen won in 12:51.47. Cisneros also finished third in the 1,600.

Benton’s Ava Peters was second in the girls 300 hurdles in 50.08. Holy Savior Menard’s Cami Harrison won in 49.24.

Benton’s Madison Thompson was second in the girls triple jump with a 32-11.75. North Webster’s Kylee Sanders won with a 34-4.

Other third-place finishers in the boys division from parish schools in individual events were were Airline’s Braylon Bryant (100), Airline’s Austin Bonney (1,600) and Benton’s Jordan Johnson (high jump).

Airline’s Janiyah Boudreaux finished third in the girls 200 and 100 hurdles. Airline’s Karliyah Woodard was third in the 300 hurdles.
