High school track and field: Airline takes boys division in Benton meet; Benton edges Airline for girls title

The Airline boys and Benton girls won their respective divisions in the Benton Tiger Shamocus Patton Memorial Relays Thursday at Tiger Stadium.

Airline scored 113 points. Parkway was second with 87 and Northwood third with 58.

Benton scored 95 points, edging Airline by one point. North DeSoto was third with 76.

The first meet of the season was run in windy, chilly and sometimes wet conditions.

Airline’s Jeremiah Boudreaux was a double winner. He swept the hurdles, winning the 110-meter race in 15.29 and the 300 in 39.43.

Boudreaux finished .23 ahead of runner-up Tyler Stewart of Haughton. He beat teammate Zion Smith by 3.26 in the 300.

Boudreaux was almost a triple winner. He finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches.

North DeSoto’s Javonte Taylor win with a 6-4.

Parkway’s Devon Oliver was also a double winner. He took the shot put with a throw of 46-0 and the disco with a 144-8.

He won the shot put by 3 feet, 4 inches over Natchitoches Central’s Antonio Brown and the discus by 15-0 over Byrd’s Primes Brock.

Other winners from parish schools in the boys division were Haughton’s John Brown (100, 11.09), Parkway’s Andrew Kent (1,600, 4:41.92), Parkway’s Gary Smith (3,200, 10:14.83), Airline’s Smith (long jump, 20-5), Benton’s Jeffery King (javelin, 175-11) and Benton’s Miller Malley (pole vault, 13-0).

Parkway won the 4X400 relay in 3:33.15 and the 4X800 in in 8:16.61.

Benton’s Addyson Hulett and Sadie Hamby and Airline’s Kezyriah Sykes were double winners in the girls division.

Hullet won the 400 in 59.38 and the pole vault with a 10-2. She finished 3.95 seconds ahead of runner-up Charlotte Switzer of West Monroe in the 400. Her pole vault was 1 feet, 8 inches higher than second-place Julianna Boyett of Haughton.

Hulett also finished second to Sykes in the 200 in 26.56.

Sykes ran a 25.97 in the 200 and took the 100 hurdles in 16.29. She was 1.29 seconds faster than runner-up and teammate Janiyah Boudreaux in the hurdles.

Hamby won the javelin with a 112-10 and the discus with a 109-5.

Her javelin throw was 12-4 farther than that of runner-up Mikayla Mondello of North DeSoto. Her discus throw was 5-2 farther than that of  runner-up Aniya Hill of Haughton.

Hill the shot put with a 33-10.

Parkway athletes won two track events. Cheyenne Olson took the 800 in 2:30.23 and Ember Pierce won the 1,600 in 5:50.60.

Other winners from parish schools were Parkway’s MaKenzie Marshall (long jump, 15-3) and Airline’s Shelby Ledet (high jump, 5-4).

The Airline foursome of Sykes, Boudreaux, Rikiyah Taylor and Jaycie Wallace won the 4X100 relay in 50.10.

Taylor and Wallace teamed with Karliyah Woodard and Kamya Allen to win the 4X200 in 1:48.38.

The Benton foursome of Dominique Coore, Eryn Flowers, Claire Allen and Jenevieve Willis won the 4X800 in 10:46.84.

Other runner-up finishers in boys individual events from parish schools were Airline’s Ladarius Epps (200, 24.08), Airline’s Phillip Hughes (400, 52.04), Airline’s Jayden Williams (3,200, 10:25.12), Benton’s Marc Perry (triple jump, 42-4) and Haughton’s Brett McGlasson (pole vault, 12-0).

Other runner-up finishers in girls individual events from parish schools were Benton’s Allen (1,600, 5:54.87) and  Tameara Player (long jump, 32-7).
