Benton finished runner-up in the boys and girls divisions in the Don Millen Bearkat Relays hosted by Bossier Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
Benton scored 98 points in the boys division. Alexandria won with 137. Airline was third with 88, Haughton fourth with 80 and Parkway fifth with 66.
Benton scored 116 points in the girls division. Alexandria won with 174. North DeSoto was third with 73, Parkway fourth with 66 and Airline fifth with 63.
Boys
Bossier’s Quinton Hodge, Airline’s Lathan Woodland and Haughton’s Kyron Turner were double winners.
Hodge won the 800 in 2 minutes, 3.61 seconds and the 1,600 in 4:35.04.
Alexandria’s Clark Wright was second in the 800 in 2:04.14. Parkway’s Javaria Flournoy finished second in the 1,600 in 4:35.86.
Woodland took the 400 in 48.78. His teammate Jayden Williams was second in 50.58.
Woodland also won the triple jump with a distance of 44 feet, 1.5 inches. Haughton’s Jamarion Gray was second with a 43-7.
Turner captured the 200 in 22.68 and the high jump with a season-best 6-8, two inches higher than runner-up Jordan Johnson of Benton. Northwood’s Jeremiah Johnson was second in the 200 in 22.79.
Parkway’s Ben and Isaac Ruliffson finished 1-2 in the 3,200. Ben ran 9:56.22 and Isaac a 10:29.11.
Airline’s Preston Hughes won the 110 hurdles in 15.52. Alexandria’s Demarion Robinson was second in 15.96.
Benton’s Malachi Zeigler took the javelin with a season-best throw of 197-4. His teammate Jack Jayroe was second with a 132-0.
Benton’s Caden Austin won the pole vault with a 12-6. North DeSoto’s Sy Stoute also cleared 12-6. Austin finished first on fewer misses.
The Airline foursome of Nathan White, Brian Taylor, Chase Williams and Braylon Bryant won the 4X100 relay in 42.35. The Vikings edged runner-up Alexandria by two hundredths of a second.
The Airline foursome of Jayden Williams, Woodland, Jordan Williams and Jayden Singleton won the 4X400 relay in 3:21.14. Alexandria was second in 3:26.29.
Other runners-up in individual events from parish schools were Airline’s Taylor (100, 11.38), Haughton’s Gray (300 hurdles, 41.19), Airline’s Terrence Hays (long jump, 21-1.25) and Benton’s Ryder Dodson (discus, 159-0).
Third-place finishers were Haughton’s Turner (100), Benton’s Colin Nelson (110 hurdles), Parkway’s Aiden O’Nishea (800), Benton’s Brody Hutchinson (1,600), Benton’s Johnson (triple jump) and Parkway’s Drailyn Jackson (high jump).
Girls
Benton’s Claire Allen won the 3,200 in 12:45.43. Parkway’s Caylee Weaver was second in 12:54.55.
Benton’s Madison Thompson and Layla Davidson finished 1-2 in the triple jump with distances of 34-4 and 33-8, respectively.
Davidson won the high jump with a height of 5-0. Parkway’s London Farhood was second with a 4-10.
Benton’s Tenley Hesson and Brynan Huffman finished 1-2 in the javelin with distances of 93-10 and 92-1, respectively.
Benton’s Ryleigh McCoy took the pole vault with a 10-3. Haughton’s Londyn Goodman and Airline’s Kaylyn Thompson tied for second with vaults of 7-0.
Airline finished second in all four relays.
The foursome of Symauri Butler, Karliyah Woodard, Leah Menard and Ke’Zyriah Sykes ran a 48.89 in the 4X100. Alexandria won in 47.39.
The foursome of Jayda Chisley, Butler, Menard and Caely Upshaw ran a 1:45.47 in the 4X200. Alexandria won in 1:38.35.
The foursome of Menard, Butler, Chisley and Thompson ran a 4:15.61 in the 4X400. Alexandria won in 4:03.54.
The foursome of Sarah-Catherine Tauzin, Thompson, Kaniya Brown and Jennifer Nguyen ran a 10:53.88 in the 4X800. North DeSoto’s won in 10:39.36.
Alexandria athletes won five of the eight individual track events and three of the seven field events.
Parkway’s Zara Baker-Scanlon finished second in the 400 in 1:00.57. North DeSoto’s Lyric Spencer won in 1:00.48.
Benton’s Dominique Coore was second in the 200 in 26.39. Alexandria’s Amari Dupar won in 24.99.
Parkway’s Zaniyah Carter was a close second in the shot put with a 37-3. Alexandria’s Alyssa Skipper won with a 37.3.75.
Carter also finished second in the discus with a 113-10. Alexandria’s Nyla Stewart won with a 136-7.
Third-place finishers in individual events from parish schools were Bossier’s Kaylyn Godfrey (100), Airline’s Butler (200), Benton’s Aaliyah Gonzalez (800), Haughton’s Skylar Hogan (300 hurdles) and Bossier’s Zamarion Carter (triple jump).
