High school track and field: Benton boys win Benton meet; Parkway girls runner-up

Benton won the boys division in the Benton Tiger Shamocus Patton Relays on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.

Benton scored 91 points, edging runner-up Airline by five. North DeSoto was third with 72 and Haughton fourth with 65.

West Monroe won the girls division with 124 points. Parkway was second with 88, North DeSoto third with 66 and Airline fourth with 61.

The Benton meet is annually the first one of the outdoor season in Bossier Parish.

In the boys division, Benton won the 4×200- and 4X400-meter relays. 

Laeden Tucker, Malik Antwine, Jamil Harris and Artis Cole ran a 1:33.26 in the 4X200. The Haughton foursome of Keyshawn Davis, Jacob Stephens, Jaleel Mouton and Brian Feaster came in a close second in 1:33.28.

Brenden Kennedy, Nick Randall, Todd Martin and Tucker ran a 3:36.61 in the 4X400. West Monroe was second in 3:40.03.

Airline’s Tommy Williams swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 15.08 and the 300 in 39.44. Benton’s Randall was second in the 300 in 43.56.

Other winners from Bossier Parish schools were Airline’s Collin Morgan (800, 2:05.91), Benton’s Jacob Marcinkus (3,200, 10:20.26), Parkway’s Adam Machowski (high jump, 6-4) and Haughton’s Stephens (long jump, 21-9).

Bossier City’s Will Dart, a senior at Loyola College Prep, won the 1,600 in 4:30.16. Airline’s Tyson Burns was second in 4:49.17.

Haughton’s Davis, Feaster, John Ecot and Stephens won the 4X100 in 43.69. Airline was second in 44.08.

Airline won the 4X800 in 8:41.89. The Haughton foursome of DJ Gilbert, Kenneth Smith, Cameron Crenshaw and Jordan Sanderson was second in 8:44.95.

Other runners-up from parish schools were Airline’s JaQuarious Rabon (100, 11.15), Bossier’s A’Tavious Williams (400, 52.58), Haughton’s Adam Brown (800, 2:08.93), Benton’s Randall (high jump, 6-0), Parkway’s Isaiah Robinson (long jump, 20-5.5) and Benton’s Matthew Parks (triple jump, 41-2).

Parkway’s Jazz Rasouliyan was a double winner in the girls division, taking the 800 in 2:34.88 and the 1,600 in 5:53.15.

Airline’s Brianna Taylor won the 100 in 12.36, beating Southwood’s Rondisia Williams by .27 seconds.

Parkway’s Jordan Dukes took the 200 in 26.64, edging Mansfield’s Amaya Johnson by .02 seconds.

Parkway’s Zalea Washington won the 400 in 1:02.93. 

Benton’s Isabelle Russell captured the 3,200 in 11:40.47. Parkway’s Joslyn Crosby was second in 11:42.25.

Airline swept the 4X100 and 4X200 relays in 51.62 and 1:48.51, respectively. West Monroe finished second in both in 51.67 and 1:48.59, respectively.

The Parkway foursome of Jada Hardy, Jillian Walton, Bianca Oliver and Rasouliyan finished second in the 4X400 relay in 4:32.97. West Monroe won in 4:30.60.

Other runners-up from parish schools were Airline’s Saylor Lowe (300 hurdles, 52.34), Haughton’s Jiana Stewartburgess (high jump, 5-0) and Haughton’s Shelby Roy (pole vault, 7-6).

The shot put and discus events weren’t held because of wet conditions caused by Wednesday’s heavy rain.
