High school track and field: District 1-5A meet suspended because of inclement weather, set to resume Friday

The District 1-5A meet was suspended Thursday night at Benton’s Tiger Stadium because of inclement weather.

According to TrackMate results, seven of 12 track events and all field events had been completed.

The meet is scheduled to be completed Friday.

Parkway leads the boys division with 80 points. Airline is second with 72.

Captain Shreve leads the girls division with 75.5 points. Benton is second with 74, Parkway third with 61 and Airline fourth with 53.5.

District champions from parish schools in the boys division individual events so far are Airline’s Zion Smith (110 hurdles, long jumo), Parkway’s Brennan Robin (1,600), Parkway’s Devon Oliver (shot put, discus), Airline’s Lathan Woodland (triple jump), Benton’s Malachi Zeigler (javelin) and Benton’s Miller Malley (poke vault).

Malley, the defending Class 5A champion, cleared 16 feet in one of the day’s most impressive performances.

Parkway won the 4X800 relay.

District champions from parish schools in the girls division so far are Airline’s Jaycie Wallace (100), Parkway’s Zaniyah Carter (shot put), Parkway’s Savannah Wilson (discus), Haughton’s Brooke Caporossi (javelin) and Benton’s Ryleigh McCy (pole vault).

Airline won the 4X100 relay.
