Five parish athletes have been named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State Track and Field Teams.
The boys and girls teams were selected by LSWA members from regular season and state meet results.
Benton’s Taylor Davis, a ULL signee, made it in two events — the high jump and triple jump.
Her top high jump of 5 foot, 6 inches was the best in the state. She won the event in the Class 4A meet three straight years.
Her top triple jump of 38-6.5 ranked third among the selections in that event. Amy Warren of Belle Chasse had the top jump of 39-9.5.
Airline’s Gabriel Cole made the boys team in two events — the 800 and 4X800 relay.
Cole’s listed time in the 800 was 1:58.88. Class 5A champion LaDann Thomas of Byrd had the top listed time of 1:55.82.
Cole and teammates Joshua Burns, Goffrey Cole and Taejon Morris were all honored in the 4X800. The foursome won the event in the Class 5A meet in 7:59.16. The time was the best at the state meet.
