The Haughton Buccaneers and Parkway Lady Panthers won the boys and girls titles, respectively, in the Airline Viking Relays on Thursday at Airline.
Haughton scored 117 points in the boys division. Airline finished runner-up with 95. Haynesville was third with 70.
Parkway won the girls title with 103 points. Airline was runner-up with 95. Haughton finished third with 76.
Haughton’s Josh Lister and Kynan Hayes both won individual sprints and ran on the Bucs’ winning 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams.
Lister won the 100 in a blistering 10.28 seconds with a pretty good wind at his back. Haynesville’s Kavacion Webster was a distant second in 10.61.
Hayes won the 200 in 22.15, easily beating Northwood’s James Henderson (22.57).
Lister, Hayes, Emile Cole and Lavonta Gipson combined to win the 4X100 in 41.88, 1.33 seconds faster than runner-up Haynesville. The same foursome won the 4X200 in 1:29.38.
Airline’s Malik Britt swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 15.04 and the 300 in 40.80.
Airline’s Taejon Morris took the 800 in 2:04.65.
Bossier Parish runners finished 1-2-3 in the 1,600 and 3,200.
Airline’s Seth Papineau won the 1,600 in 4:32.61. He was followed by Parkway’s Cole Billiot in 4:40.65 and Airline’s Joshua Burns in 4:50.24.
Airline freshman Will Dart won the 3,200 in 10:07.23, beating Parkway’s David Morgan by 26.16 seconds. Airline’s Nate Godeaux was third in 10:46.35.
Haughton also fared well the field events. Montoya Bonapart won the high jump with a leap of 6-1. Greg Phil took the long jump with a 21-2.75. Colt Shankle captured the javelin with a 163-2.
Parkway’s Stony Butler won the pole vault with an 11-0.25.
Airline’s Nate Fullilove (6-0.25) and Haughton’s Cole (6-0) finished 2-3 in the high jump. Parkway’s Justin Rogers was second in the long jump with a 21-1.
Haughton’s Clyde English and Parkway’s Chase Creamer finished 2-3 in the 400.
In the girls division, Airline’s Brittany Roberson and Parkway’s Adrianna Wilder and Lindsey Hutcheson enjoyed very good days.
Roberson won the 200 in 25.78 and 400 in 59.76. She also ran on Airline’s winning 4X400 relay team with Ashlyn O’Glee, Morgan Randle and Jasmine Roberson and runner-up 4X200 team with Lauren Daley, Hannah Brooks and Jasmine Roberson.
Wilder swept the distance events, winning the 1,600 in 5:55.0 and the 3,200 in 11:36.84.
Hutcheson won the 800 in 2:34.89 and finished runner-up in the 1,600 in 6:00. Hutcheson and Wilder combined with Claire Carlyle and Niaya Fant to finish second in the 4X400 in 4:20.57.
Haughton’s Savannah O’Neal (16.78) and Airline’s Briana Jacobs (16.84) finished 1-2 in the 100 hurdles.
Haughton’s Mary Gladney, Jenna Blank and Ashanti Blue were all winners in the field events.
Gladney won the discus with a toss of 97-7 feet. Parkway’s Kourtney Landry was second with an 83-7.
Blank (8-6) and Parkway’s Victoria Morris (7-6) went 1-2 in the pole vault.
Blue won the triple jump with a 39-6, almost five feet farther than runner-up D’Kira Spivey of Richwood.
Parkway’s Carly Hanson (12:49.23) and Airline’s Bethanie Dunn (12:57.29) finished second and third, respectively in the 3,200. Dunn also finished third in the 1,600.
Parkway’s Angene Tellis (52.90) and Madison Collins (53.65) scored 14 points in the 300 hurdles with second- and third-place finishes, respectively.
