High school volleyball (updated): Airline, Haughton post victories; Parkway falls to Natchitoches Central in five sets


The Airline Lady Vikings and Haughton Lady Bucs won volleyball matches Thursday.

Airline rebounded from a tough loss to Ruston on Tuesday with a straight sets District 1-I victory over Captain Shreve at home, 25-8, 25-9, 25-17.

Haughton posted a non-district victory over Loyola College Prep, 26-24, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, at Loyola.

In another District 1-I game, the Parkway Lady Panthers lost a heartbreaker to Natchitoches Central on the road.

The Lady Panthers lost the first set 25-14 then rallied to win the second 25-15. The Lady Chiefs took the third 25-20. Parkway forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-23 victory in the fourth. But Natchitoches Central won a tight fifth set 17-15.

Megan McCarty had 16 kills, one ace and one dig. Jordan Glanville had one kill, five aces and two digs. Jasmin Washington had three kills and three aces.

Madison Collins had three kills and one block. Melanie Willis had four kills. Alyssa Colvard had two aces. Paris Washington had one kill. Kyra Kingfisher had one dig.

Parkway, which downed Northwood and Huntington in straight sets in non-district games Monday and Tuesday, dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in district. The Lady Panthers are playing in the Many tournament Saturday. Natchitoches Central improved to 6-2 and 2-1.

At Airline, Gabby Patronis had 15 aces, nine kills, one block, one assist and five digs for the Lady Vikings. Zahria Lloyd had two aces, seven kills, 17 assists and 11 digs.

At Loyola, Mia McWilliams had three aces, two kills, 13 assists and two digs for the Lady Bucs. Reanna Crumpler had three aces, three kills and six digs. Taralyn Sweeney had eight kills. Taylor Williams had six aces and 12 assists.

Arielle Emanuel had three kills and seven digs. Ashlyn Gilmore had one ace and four kills. Cathrine Hudson had one ace and three kills. Kaylee Swiger had one ace, nine kills and one block.

Airline (9-5, 2-1) and Haughton (4-5) are both playing in the Ruston tournament this weekend.

The Benton Lady Tigers (3-5) fell to Byrd 25-10, 25-9 and 25-10 in a non-district match at Byrd.
