High school volleyball: Airline picks up two wins in Woodlawn-Baton Rouge tournament


The Airline Lady Vikings continued their strong start to the season with two wins in the Woodlawn tournament in Baton Rouge on Friday.

The Lady Vikings downed Denham Springs 25-17, 25-20 and Madison Prep 25-17, 25-12.

Jaci Ervin had six blocks, two assists and one dig against Denham Springs. Gabby Patronis had three aces, three kills and seven digs. Zee Lloyd had two kills, one block, six assists and eight digs.

Patronis had three aces, seven kills and seven digs against Madison Prep. Lloyd had three aces, 13 assists and four digs. Tori Ligman had one ace and 13 digs. Brooklyn Brandon had four kills and four digs.

Airline improved to 4-0.

Parkway opened the season Thursday under new coach Barbara Curry with a five-set victory over Haughton, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Megan McCarty had eight kills, two aces and three blocks for the Lady Panthers. Faith Ingles had two kills, five aces and one block. Madison Collins had one kill, four aces and one block.

Jorden Glanville had four kills and two aces. Paris Washington had one kill and three aces. Melanie Willis had four kills. Alyssa Colvard had two aces. Jasmin Washington had one kill.
