It didn’t take long for the Benton Lady Tigers to get the first win in school history.
Benton, in its first varsity season, defeated Booker T. Washington in a five-set thriller, 25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 28-30, 19-15, Thursday at BTW. The Lady Tigers improved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in District 1-II.
Elsewhere, Airline ran its record to 2-0 with a four-set non-district road victory over Caddo Magnet, 25-18, 25-15, 26-28, 25-21.
In another non-district game, host Parkway edged Haughton in five close sets, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-11.
At BTW, Benton’s Harlie Erickson had eight aces and one dig. Christina Summers had five aces and three digs. Andie Taylor and Ava McReynolds had four aces each. Ashanti Gavin had three aces and one dig.
Gracyn Badall had three digs. Madison Wells had two digs. Peyton Reeder and Emily Angelo had one kill each.
At Caddo Magnet, Tori Ligman had four aces and three digs for the Lady Vikings. Gabby Patronis had one ace, seven kills, one assist and five digs. Brooklyn Brandon had six aces, five kills and five digs. Zahria Lloyd had three aces, two kills, 15 assists and five digs.
