High school volleyball: Haughton clinches District 1-II title; Airline downs Captain Shreve

The Haughton Lady Bucs won the District 1-II volleyball championship with a 25-9, 25-20, 25-22 victory over the Caddo Magnet Lady Mustangs on Tuesday at Haughton.

Haughton improved to 14-15 overall and 5-1 in district. Northwood finished second at 4-2.

Also, Airline won its final District 1-I game in straight sets over Captain Shreve, 28-26, 25-10, 25-14, at Captain Shreve.

The Lady Vikings improved to 21-12 overall and finished district play 8-2.

Zahria Lloyd had two aces, four kills, 17 assists and six digs. Kaylea Noble had eight aces, seven kills, one assist and four digs. Gabby Patronis had five aces, six kills, three assists and 12 digs.

Airline finished runner-up to Ruston (19-7, 9-0) in the district.

Airline and Haughton face off Thursday at 5:30 at Haughton in both teams’ final regular-season game.

Playoff pairings will be announced Sunday. The first- and second-place teams in each district automatically qualify for the playoffs and brackets are set based on power rankings.

Airline is currently No. 23 in the Division I rankings, and Haughton is No. 29 in Division II. Twenty-four teams in each bracket qualify for the playoffs. As an automatic qualifier, Haughton will likely go into the playoffs as the No. 22 seed.
