High school volleyball: Haughton off to 2-0 start; Parkway wins first game

The high school volleyball season got underway on Monday and the Haughton Lady Bucs are already 2-0.

Haughton defeated Natchitoches Central on Monday 20-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-18 in its season opener Monday in Natchitoches. The Lady Bucs opened District 1-II play Tuesday with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 victory over Northwood at home.

Haughton has moved from Division I to Division II this season. In addition to Northwood, the other members of the new District 1-II are Booker T. Washington, Caddo Magnet and Huntington. The Lady Bucs host Captain Shreve in a non-district game Thursday.

Parkway, which is fielding a team for the first time, won its first ever game Monday. The Lady Panthers downed North Caddo 25-14, 25-16, 25-13 in Vivian.

Abbie Norcross had two aces in the first set and Allie Hunt had one. Hunt had five aces in the second set. Morgan McCarty had two. Faith Ingles and Jasmin Washington had one apiece. Norcross and Jordan Glanville had two aces each in the third set.

Parkway is playing in District 1-I and faces defending champion Airline on Thursday. Other members of the district are Natchitoches Central, Byrd, Ruston and Captain Shreve.
