High school volleyball: Haughton suffers first loss then rebounds with win over Shreve


After suffering their first loss of the season Tuesday, the Haughton Lady Bucs rebounded with a four-set victory over Captain Shreve on Wednesday.

The Lady Bucs defeated Shreve 27-25, 9-25, 25-10, 25-18. It was Haughton’s second victory over the Lady Gators in six days.

Laurel Emanuel had 12 aces, 14 kills and four digs. Arielle Emanuel had five aces, 17 assists and four digs. Reanna Crumpler had six digs. Ashlyn Gilmore had seven kills and four digs. Madison Shelton had seven kills.

The Lady Bucs lost to Byrd in five sets, winning the first two sets 25-13 and 25-17 and losing the next two 25-8 and 25-17. Byrd won the decisive fifth set 15-9.

Both the Shreve and Byrd games were non-district. Haughton (4-1) visits Calvary Baptist in another non-district game Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Airline (3-3) hosts Northwood Thursday evening at 6:30 in a non-district game.
