High school volleyball: Haughton wins eighth straight

The Haughton Lady Bucs extended their winning streak to eight games with a non-district victory over Evangel Christian in four sets Monday at Haughton.

The Lady Bucs lost the first set 25-19 then stormed back to win the next three 25-19, 25-19, 25-10.

Haughton (18-11) resumes District 1-II play against Huntington at home Tuesday. The defending champion Lady Bucs lead the district at 7-0.

Taylor Williams had nine assists, six aces, five digs and one kill.

Mia McWilliams had six aces along with four kills, two assists and two digs. Arielle Emanuel had three aces, four kills and four digs.

Reanna Crumpler had six aces, two kills and four digs. Ashlyn Gilmore had four aces and three digs. Taralyn Sweeney had five kills and one block.

Hannah Borah had two kills. Catherine Hudson had one ace. Kaylee Swiger and Hannah Leslie had one kill each.

Elsewhere Monday, the Parkway Lady Panthers lost a tough five-set match at Leesville.

The Lady Panthers lost the first set 25-16 and then rallied to take the second 25-18. Leesville won the third 25-23 before Parkway captured the fourth 25-18. Leesville then won the decisive fifth 15-11.

It was Parkway’s sixth five-set match this season.

Parkway resumes District 1-1 play Tuesday at home against Captain Shreve.

Benton visits Northwood in a District 1-II match Tuesday.
