High school wrestling: Airline’s Perry, Parkway’s Keeler earn top seeds in Division I state tournament


Airline freshman Ernie Perry III and Parkway senior Joshua Keeler are the No. 1 seeds in their respective Division I weight classes in the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Wrestling State Tournament.

The tournament starts Friday at the CenuryLink Center and concludes Saturday.

Perry is the top seed in the 106-pound class. According to trackwrestling.com, he will carry a 27-1 record into the tournament.

Keeler (36-5) is the top seed in the 126-pound class.

Parkway’s Kaleb Garcia and Haughton’s Louis Lindsey earned No. 2 seeds in the Division I 182-pound class and Division II 120-pound class, respectively.

Haughton’s Justin Nixon and Benton’s Trey Winkler are seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the Division II 195-pound class.

Three other Parkway wrestlers are among the top six seeds in their respective Division I classes — David Viers (fifth, 106), Jacob Chittom (fifth, 152) and Andrew Tamburo (sixth, 138).

Three Haughton wrestlers earned Division II top-six seeds — Blayne Johnson (fourth, 126), Kameron Smith (sixth, 160) and Charlie Yocum (fifth, 182).

Benton’s Preston Fisher is seeded fourth in the Division II 182-pound class.
