High school wrestling: Parkway claims another tournament title

The Parkway Panthers won their fourth tournament of the season Saturday.

Parkway, the host team, scored 215.5 points, edging runner-up North DeSoto by five points in the Big Cat Brawl. North DeSoto was the Division II state runner-up last season.

Benton finished third in the seven-team event with 83.5 points.

Parkway has also won TheRiot on the Red, Bossier’s David Beeson Memorial and the Lone Survivor.

Parkway’s individual winners were Matthew Gallman (113 pounds), Peyton Plunkett (126), David Viers (138), Kristopher Mesloh (220) and Jake Morton (285).

Benton’s Colton Stratton won the 106-pound class.

North DeSoto had seven winners — Collin Bell (120), Daniel Oliver (132), Lance Ferguson (145), Hunter Addison (152), Hunter Hanson (160), Jacob Freeman (182) and Caden Robinson (195).

Calvary Baptist’s Christian Otzenberger won the 170-pound class.

Seven Parkway wrestlers finished runner-up in their respective classes — Devon Viers (106), Brayden Lobrado (120), Taylor Haley (126), Christopher Bacot (132), Jonathan Weissbach (145), Brendon Earnest (170) and Ethan Albarado (182).

Three Benton wrestlers were runners-up — Kolin Giles (113), Luke Campbell (152) and Nikolas Green (195).

Haughton’s James Lindsey (138) and Charlie Yocom (160) also finished runner-up in their respective classes.
