High school wrestling: Parkway wins Riot on the Red; Airline runner-up

The Parkway Panthers won the Riot on the Red wrestling tournament on Saturday at Parkway.

The Panthers scored 240 points to 216 for runner-up Airline.

North Desoto was third with 193.5 followed by Byrd with 143, Lakeside with 116, Bossier with 75 and Haughton with 66.

Parkway’s winners were Zach Harper (113), Matthew Pitts (145), Ryan Huckaby (152) and Kaleb Garcia (170).

Garcia, a freshman, was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Parkway runners-up were Darryl Nicholas (120), Kaden Nelson (126), Toby Fontenot (145), Dalton Driggers (160) and Carson Sanders (182).

Third-place finishers were Josh Keeler (106), Elias PeBenito (113), Dylan Baker (126), Trey Fontenot (132) and Trevor Tamburo (138).

J.C. Whittington (106), Dakota Dean (132) and Nick Dean (183) placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

Airline’s winners were Dakota Brace (106), Peyton Bass (120), Joshua Partin (138), Christian Walden (160), Darrell Evans (182) and Matt Salinas (195).

Runners-up were Tucker Almond (132) and Jamarcus Gay (185).

Third place finishers were Tyler Eckman (120), Alex Davila (220) and Courtney Turner (285).

Bossier’s Rodney Nelson (152) and Haughton’s Juan Flores (170) and Daniel Monroe (195) posted runner-up finishes.
