High water forces evacuations in Haughton

Law enforcement officers are going door-to-door in the Fox Chase Subdivision to evacuate about 30 homes in the neighborhood that is being flooded.

Haughton Police Department officers and Bossier Sheriff”s Office deputies are using boats and high water vehicles to help residents evacuate on Amberwood Dr., Alex Way and Cross Dr.   A temporary shelter has been set up at First Baptist Church in Haughton in the Family Life Center for families displaced during the flooding, and The American Red Cross will be enroute to assist families in need.
Residents or anyone else affected in the area by the high waters is asked to contact the Haughton Town Hall at (318) 949-9401, where Haughton Police Department is manning the phone line for this specific purpose.  If it’s an emergency, call 911.
Please be cautious if you are out and about in the area and any other area in Bossier Parish that is experiencing high water levels.
