In 1938 The Planters’ Press frequently promoted local businesses.  One of the businesses featured in its March 10, 1938 issue was Cummings Garage which had  been featured in The Bossier Banner’s September 29th issue six years earlier.
“Cummings Garage is one of the best equipped shops in the South, located at 801 Barksdale Boulevard in Bossier City and are [sic] open day and night and features skilled motor and car rebuilding, general auto repairing, and servicing which includes painting of tops, body and fender work and Sparcolene Gasoline and Penzoil [sic] Oils.”


“All the work at Cummings Garage is fully guaranteed, and it will pay you to consult them on any phase of motor rebuilding, for truck or pleasure car, as their work is dependable and is always available.”


“Their wrecker service is prompt and efficient, and is available day and night, whether it is to bring in a stalled car, or to pull out the most difficult wreck, and their charges are very reasonable.  Phone 2-7261.”


“Admirably located, out of the high rent district, Cummings Garage has the most modern machinery obtainable for renewing the motor in its vital parts.  They will give your automobile new life and make it run like new, as they use the same process that is employed at the factory, and this can guarantee accurate and dependable results.  They have in their employ skilled mechanics who are specialists in their departments, and specially trained for the most thorough rebuilding and servicing problems.  The owner, J. L. Cummings has many years practical experience and has made an extensive study of this business, uses the best methods and the most accurate and dependable equipment obtainable.”
