Hockey: Mudbugs will take a 2-2 record into Thursday’s home opener

The Shreveport Mudbugs will take a 2-2 record into their home opener Thursday against the Lone Star Brahmas at George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.

Shreveport defeated the Northeast Generals 3-1 and lost to the Janesville Jets 6-5 in their first two games at the NAHL season-opening event in Blaine, Minn. The Mudbugs defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears 5-2 before falling to the Johnstown Tomahawks 2-1 in their final two.

The Mudbugs play the Brahmas Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 7:11 p.m. Tickets are available online or by calling (318) 636-7094. For more information, visit mudbugshockey.com.

Through four games, Erik Zohovs is Shreveport’s points leader with six. He has three goals and three assists.

Steven Mather (three goals, two assists), Frankie Melton (three goals, two assists) and Croix Evingson (five assists) all have five points. Geuorgui Feduolov (one goal, three assists) has four.

Goalie John Roberts is 1-1. He has 66 saves in 69 attempts.

Cooper Seedott is 1-0. He has saved 36 of 38 shots.
