The Bossier City Fire Department responded to an overnight house fire the claimed the life of one man.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 400 block of Plaza Circle at approximately 12:30 a.m. Friday. The first units to arrive on the scene reported smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Firefighters made entry to the house and we’re hampered by a large amount of personal belongings that were inside. Fire crews located the fire in the kitchen and managed to keep it contained to that area before bringing it under control within several minutes.

Firefighters located the 60-year old victim lying unresponsive on a couch in the living room and immediately began performing CPR however the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another man who lived in the house managed to escape the fire by climbing out of a bedroom window. He was checked out by BCFD emergency medical personnel and did not need to be transported to a hospital.

The name of the victim is not being release at this time pending notification of family. An autopsy will be done under the direction of the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. This is the first fire related death in Bossier City since 2003.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
